Hi, my name is Anja and I would like to welcome you to Anja’s Advocacy Avenue.
I am Founder of M.A.D. Mom’s Advocating Daily for Autism, and author of “Unapologetically Embracing Autism”. Born in Columbia, SC I am a single parent to my son Cortland who was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of three. Before and since receiving his diagnosis, I have poured my heart and soul into ensuring that he receives all the necessary services and tools to lead a productive life in society.
In the beginning, I found myself battling with the weight of the world and the unknowing fear of what this journey held for us; knowing the first hand feeling of being overwhelmed.
An alumna of the University of Tennessee, my passion for advocating for Autism was born because of Cortland’s journey. It’s a passion built on a foundation of advocacy, where I aim to be a powerful and strong voice for those that cannot advocate for themselves by promoting the embodiment of advocacy, empowerment, education, commitment, and community. I decided I not only wanted to be a voice for Cortland but for all living with Autism.
